Q: What are essential oils?
A: Essential oils are the lifeblood of a plant. So, for example, if a plant gets trampled on, it will use these oils to revitalize and repair themselves. Young Living’s genuine therapeutic grade oils are primarily extracted through careful steam distillation, but also through cold pressing.
Q: Why should I choose Young Living essential oils over the oils I can buy at my local health food store/Walmart/other essential oil distributors?
A: Although it’s tempting to pick up an oil or two at a local health food store, it is important to do your research! Young Living is the only company that distills their own oils on site, and the oils undergo rigorous testing to provide ONLY 100% pure essential oils. Yes, labels on other essential oil blends say they’re 100% therapeutic grade, but they are allowed to put anything they want on their labels since the FDA doesn’t regulate that info. Young Living is the only company that has a Seed to Seal promise. Any additives would harm us rather than help us. If we don’t use real 100% pure therapeutic oils, then why are we using them? If you’re looking for a true lifestyle of wellness, Young Living is the only way.
Q: Can someone be allergic to essential oils?
We never say never around here! We have had people in the past express that they’re allergic to a certain oil, but often times the reason they think they’re allergic to an oil is because they have used a lesser brand in the past that adds fillers and the filler is what causes the reaction. If for any reason you try a Young Living oil (or supplement or whatever) and have an adverse reaction, stop using the oil immediately. Also, discussing your essential oil routine with your Healthcare Professional is a very wise choice.
Q. Can essential oils contraindicate a medication I’m taking?
A. Yes, there have been reports of essential oils not playing nicely with certain medications, particularly seizure medications. Please consult your Healthcare Professional before you begin your essential oil use if you are currently taking medications and are concerned about reactions.
Q: Does Young Living only sell essential oils?
Young Living actually has an entire line of personal care products, home cleaning products, supplements, meal replacements, energy drinks, and more! Almost every product incorporates essential oils (for example, frankincense is absolutely wonderful in facial products), but there’s a wide variety of products available.
Q: If I sign up for Young Living, what’s the difference between a retail member and a wholesale member?
A: When you purchase from Young Living, you have two options. You can sign up as a wholesale member or a retail customer. In order to activate a wholesale account, you must purchase a starter kit and set up a wholesale account. One you activate your account, you are entitled to receive 24% off all your future purchases! As a retail customer, you can purchase everything separately, even at first. However, you do not get any discounts.
Q: If I choose to become a wholesale member, do I have to sell Young Living?
A: In a word, no! When it comes to the business side of things with Young Living, it’s COMPLETELY optional. But if you’re like us and can’t help but share about how these products are changing your life, Young Living will send you a thank-you check in the mail.
Q: Does Young Living need my social security number?
A: Not any more! You can now sign up for a wholesale membership without providing a social security number. Now, if later on you decide that you’re sharing about how much you love the products and would like to make that sharing a business, then once you hit $600 in commissions, Young Living will want either your SSN or an Employer Identification Number (EIN) if you have one instead.
Q: Is there a monthly order minimum to become a member?
A: Nope! Young Living only requires you to make $50 in purchases a year to keep your wholesale account active. That can be one order or a couple, it’s up to you!
Q: Why should I join Young Living through a member of Tangerines & Thyme versus another member?
A: When you start using essential oils, the amount of information can be extremely overwhelming. Young Living offers more single and blended essential oils than any other company out there and you need a team that knows their stuff. The nice thing about T&T is that it is a small community where you can reach out to for immediate help and then a larger group (Essential Families) as well. Not only that, but we’re really fun! We offer monthly private training sessions and one-on-one guidance. Oh and we reward you for learning! That too. But mainly because we’re going to welcome you with open arms in a big virtual hug.
Q: Is there only one option in the Premium Starter Kit (PSK)?
A: At this time, there are three essential oil Premium Starter Kits (same oils but different diffusers-the Dewdrop, the Home, the Rainstone and the Aria) and then there is a Thieves Premium Starter Kit and an NingXia Red Premium Starter Kit. Any of these three will get you a wholesale membership and access to all the Tangerines & Thyme perks.
Q: What if I can’t afford a starter kit?
A: Keep in mind that the oils that come in your kit can replace many things in your home, including air freshener sprays, plug-ins, immune boosting supplements, sleep health supplements, beauty products, skin care products, etc. And if you’re still on the fence about it, know that if you have three family members or friends that are interested in purchasing a kit with your member number, Young Living will send you a thank-you check just for sharing with them and it will pretty much cover the cost of your kit!
Q: Am I required to make a minimum purchase each month?
There are absolutely NO minimum monthly purchase requirements. To remain a wholesale member, you have to make $50 worth of purchases per year to keep your membership. But if there’s a year that you don’t make a $50 purchase, you can reinstate your wholesale membership discount by just placing a $50 order.
If you do find yourself making regular purchases each month, then Young Living has a rewards program (called Essential Rewards) where you can make a nice percentage back in product credit each month on all of your purchases. So that’s a neat program to join if you find that you *want* to purchase regularly (but it’s not a requirement for being a wholesale member).
