NingXia Red, the antioxidant powerhouse superfruit drink that Young Living offers, has some pretty awesome benefits, many of which have been touted by enthusiasts for years. We here at Tangerines & Thyme love it for a variety of reasons; it was one of the few things Diana was able to keep down during her pregnancy with Charlotte, Tamar loves it because she feels it gives her an energy boost throughout the day, and Nicole loves it for its immune system boosting properties. It’s amazing!
One thing we found though, is that persuading our children to drink it is not always easy. When it gets towards the bottom of the bottom and is a little thicker (all those nutrients!!), Nicole’s youngest balks at drinking his daily dose. So what did we do? We created Ningxia Red Gummies!
Making these little wonders is really quite easy and only requires 2-3 ingredients!
HEALTHY NINGXIA RED GUMMIES
5 TB NingXia Red
5 TB other juice (we used orange, but apple, lemon or whatever else you have on hand will work) *OR* you can use a total of 10 TB NingXia Red
3 TB raw honey
3 TB gelatin (we prefer Great Lakes Unflavored Gelatin for its health benefits, since some commercial brands contain a lot of extra…yuckiness)
Optional: Essential oils, a probiotic, multivitamin or MultiGreens in capsule form
Stir the NingXia Red, juice (if you’re using it) and honey together in a small saucepan over low heat. When the mixture becomes warm, sprinkle the gelatin over the top and whisk to incorporate, being sure to eliminate any lumps. Whisk in any optional items, such as essential oils, probiotics, multivitamins or MultiGreens and then pour into a silicon mold. Place in the freezer for 15 minutes; remove from freezer and peel the gummies from their molds. Refrigerate leftovers. (Number of servings depends on the size of your mold; this recipe made 12 gummies with a silicon mold from Ikea).
